OFA Good

January 8th, 2016, Tikka went to the Rainbow Bridge. She is so very special to our little family. Tikka started this whole mess of field trialing for us. When we got her, the breeder she came from, made us 'do something' with our dog in order to breed her. We quickly bored of hunt tests when Jerry Jordan introduced us to trialing. Had we not gotten Tikka from Kick Em Up Gun Dogs, we would have never seen the places we have and had the experiences we have had, I would have never seen Swagger swap ends slamming on point just before a covey of wild birds rise to the horizon over the Sandhills, we never would have met people all across the country we now love like our own family. We would have never chosen the life style we now have. I wouldn't look out windows to see horses and I wouldn't see pigeons circling the property as the sun is rising. Part of my yard wouldn't be mowed in grass strips. We wouldn't understand the pressure to find a little bird in a thorn bush, just to make it fly away so your dog can have the thrill of seeing it. I wouldn't rush to do chores to be sure and have time to go out and train my dogs. My laundry cycles would't clink from the sound of blank shells falling from our pockets as I wash and dry our clothing. We wouldn't share our bed with National Champions. We would have never experienced the bond one has with their favorite hunting dog, lounging in front of a fire together, replaying the magical moments in ones mind from a days hunt. Seeing their feet moving as the sleep on your lap, knowing they to are dreaming of the day you had together. Thank you so much for all you have given us. All the money we have spent could be written into a dollar amount, but what we have is more than priceless. She changed our lives. Her memory will live on in our hearts and her legacy forever.

Tikka never had a National title or anything fancy like that, but she was the best bird dog we ever had, capturing more than one "Honorable Mentions" at trials.  She frequently found birds when no other dog did.  Methodical and a perfectionist, she checked ever brush pile and tree line finding bird after bird.  So many birds she never got a chance to show how she could really run.  She didn't need to run far, she was a "Bird Dog" and that's what she did, found birds!  She put her knack for finding birds into the puppies she produced, blending them with Bullet's run and quest to win Championships, they together, made wonderful complements to the Vizsla breed.

Tikka the, best hunting dog we ever had!
